If I had applied myself more in school, and paid more attention in math class, I would most likely be pursuing a career in astronomy. It has always fascinated me, and I have a fairly complete understanding of the conceptual stuff. It's the calculations I don't have the capacity to engage in. That said, I have a 4.5" reflector, bought it when I was 8 years old (my parents paid for half of it, I saved up my allowance for two years for my half) and I still get a lot of use out of it, although the optics are starting to lose quality.
