Snow Day from work

Due to the snow, the company I work for canceled our work shift for Thursday and Friday this week. The sweet thing is they are giving us the time off with pay!!! So the only thing that could make this deal sweeter is if I could go meet a friend for a day of play.
Standard members are a little frustrating, they wink you, add you to their hot list, but they rarely return a contact. I know they can't send an email thru the site but I send them an invitation to join me elsewhere but they don't.
I use to love to chat online on this site, but since changing internet service providers to Direcway the chatrooms won't autoupdate. Strange that the cams work fine tho. I would have guessed that the cams would fail before the chatrooms.
So because of the chatroom problem, anyone who wants to contact me won't find me in the chatroom much anymore.

People keep asking me if I miss trucking. The answer so far is that I don't miss sleeping in a truck by myself in some dam truckstop hundreds of miles from anyone I know. But I do miss seeing places. I have watched buildings being built and subdivisions of housing going up around many cities in the country. Now I just drive the same 25 miles every day and there isn't anything new happening. I do enjoy working closely with a group of people tho, and the people I'm working with are all just great.
I miss the economic power of the wages I earned driving truck... I'm making about half what I did and that is just enough to pay the bills... No spending money.

satellite internet connections

I am a little bit bummed out. We live in a rural area on an acreage. Our dialup connection to the net was so slow that I decided to spend the extra money and get satellite connection thru agristar. I expected it to work fast. While some pages download faster, it doesn't work worth a dam for chatting on AdultFriendFinder. I enter the room and I have to manually refresh. I don't have any problems with yahoo messenger or msm messenger.
Seems I can broadcast and view webcams on AdultFriendFinder but not while in a chatroom.

I wonder if there is anyone else out there with satellite internet and if they are experiencing the same problem. I would like them to comment.

just a quick note to let adult friends know that everything is ok. I'm busy with the new job, and I just can't find the time to blog. Last friday was the day I pulled the pin on the ice cream wagon and left 13 years with that company behind me. Of course the boss didn't think I had given him enough notice and said in his usual "I know better than you" way that I was making a mistake. When all was nearly said, came the open invitation to return if things didn't work out
In the new job, I build evaporator panels. Not a very exciting job in fact pretty boring manufacturing work. Each one requires some 340 solder joints. On the upside, the company owners are always wanting our opinions and several of my ideas are now standard practice.
The units are proving to be more efficient than a ground source heat pump and cost half as much. It has fewer parts by far.
I'm not settled into this life tho, I feel like there are so many things just spinning out of my control. It can best be summed up by feelings of being overwhelmed and less certain of how things will work out. Before quitting trucking, I had a better feel for how things would work themselves out.
I miss chatting with you,

I accepted a job out of the trucking industry. I start the 2nd of october. I'm looking forward to the challenge. It seems strange that I will only spend 2 more nights in the truck somewhere in the usa. I've been on a 23 year camping trip and now it is time to settle down and go to work. lol ohhh no *work*. No more just sittin on my ass guiding a 40 ton load of ice cream across the country.

I haven't told the boss I'm quittin yet. I'm taking two weeks vacation starting the 2nd of october. After the first week of working for the new company I'll go in and tell the boss I'm not comming back to work. Kind of hate doing it that way, seems kind of dishonest but if I told him now he would argue about my vacation pay. Better to get the check in the bank then tell him.

I'm in Austinburg Ohio, tonight I will start moving toward my destination of Taunton Mass. I will reload at Framingham Mass and then make my way to Sandston VA to make a second pickup. This will be a load of Good Humor ice cream. From Sandston I will use interstate 85 to atlanta where I will get on interstate 20 and follow that out to west texas where it joins interstate 10. I will follow interstate 10 up to pheonix Az. Then I will take highway 60 and 93 up to Las vegas. I know it isn't the shortest route, but because of the product that is the route I will be paid to take.

If you are along that route give me a shout here or wave when I go by.

Have a great week

I have been busy lately trying to make up for some bad dispatching that left me at home a week longer than I had intended.
Last night as I sped across Montana, I met one of Bambi's buddies. He came from the left out of the dark. OMG what a mess. Thankfully only minor damage to the truck. I think that is the 6th one in 23years of driving.
I recieved a surprise phone call from a company outside of trucking. The owner of the company asked me to stop in and apply for a job. This company makes a water heating device that I installed in my house a year ago. It took us off of heating oil and now we are all electric. It heats water very cheap. It heats our home and our domestic water. Anyway last week I sent him an idea for a use for the equipment and he was impressed.
One of the blogs I read lately asked what the best compliment ever recieved was... for me,,, someone calling and telling me I'm wasting my creative talents driving a truck has to be it.
Anyway,,, tomorrow I meet with the guy and I expect my life will finally change. Too bad it didn't happen on any of my earlier ventures while the were living at home. They missed out on a lot of camping, fishing, boating, hunting, cuz trucking consumes family life.
The boys are off to school now, and they are doing good. Growing up fine despite having the worlds worst dad.
I'm off across South Dakota now,,,,looks like its gonna rain on me tonight.

Yesterday was a long boring day spent waiting to unload in the hot sun of Henderson NV. They finally got to me 5 hours after my appointment. Then I moved down the road to the plant and waited 6 hours for my appointment there. Finally at 12:30 am (that would be 2:30 am where I'm from) I was loaded and ready to roll.

My refer unit is currently running off a jumper cable between it and the tractor. It either needs a new battery, a new alternator, or both. Tell me, how do these dam things know when it is Saturday and the Thermo-Kings are closed? I think I'll just leave it as it is and drag it back to the junk yard.

So where am I headed on this little trip. I left Vegas and traveled up 93. I'm in Wells Nevada now. The local cathouse is advertising on the CB that they have 12 girls working. They have vip rooms with large screen tv where a fella can watch a dirty movie with the girl of his choosing or even make his own movie. They have a full bar, six acre overnight truck parking, jacuzzi bath, massage tables. And as I mentioned before 12 lovely women in all shapes and colors.

Guess I'll go get my coffee cup filled and get under way before I'm led a stray. I'll be online again when I reach Caldwell Id.

Later travlin friends
Happy trails

I heard about an organization that is fullfilling a need. Our soldiers need an upgrade to their helmets. I went on the organizations website. www.operation-helmet.com and ordered two. It struck me as a tangible way to let a soldier know I appreciate and care about them.

Normally my job means that I miss everything, but this morning as I drove from Barstow CA to Bakersfield CA i turned on the radio and heard that they had elected to land the space shuttle at Edwards air force base. Touchdown was suppose to be in 20 minutes so I found a parking spot and watched for the shuttle to land. It was dark so there wasn't much that could be seen. kind of a shadow and then the double sonic boom. Then the dark mass settled onto the desert runway.
Jumped back into the cab and continued to bakersfield. Dropped my load and now this afternoon I'll reload in Tulare for a trip to Denver Pennsylvania. I will travel interstates 40, 44, 70 & 76. Delivery set for Monday morning.

I have to admit, my biggest pet peeve is when my employer doesn't seem to value my time. This week is a case in point. I left home early so that I would no doubt deliver on time. I made my two stops on Thursday morning, called in for a dispatch and they gave me a load that didn't load until friday morning. I only logged 2 hours on thursday. After loading friday morning I put in a reasonable day stopping for the night in Winslow AZ. Saturday I drove to Salina KS arriving at around 4pm. My first drop is just a little ways from here on Monday morning so I have to sit all day today and wait. That makes 2 days that I have been at work, yet have nuttin to do, and I don't get paid for my time. That is 48 hours of unpaid time. It isn't like I can wander away from this truck while it has ice cream on it in this heat. I have to be here to make sure the unit keeps running properly.

It drives me nuts to just sit here, I have projects that need done at home. Hell maybe I'd just like to go to the river and spend time with family and friends. Funny, they are always perplexed as to why it is hard to keep drivers. It never dawns on them that they show how much they value them when they expect them to sit and babysit a load without compensation.

They should not have accepted this load given how the weekend was bound to interfere. They should have given me a load to the east coast so I could work as long as I am out here.

Ok, now I've vented about the biggest pet peeve I have regarding my work. How about some of you describing your pet peeves?

This is why I am on AdultFriendFinder, always hoping that I might meet someone to go have coffee, lunch, supper, a movie, or a walk with.
