I get that AdultFriendFinder is trying to make more money by forcing standard members in subscriptions, but with the reduced number of subscriptions options available, this seems like a risky proposition--no more "try-before-you-buy"; it's more like "take-it-or-leave-it".
Not to mention the fact that you are also devaluing the Gold experience in general--if a Gold member sends a message to someone, was there no response because the recipient was not interested? Or were they simply unable to read it? Well, go thing we YOU the option to pay even more on top of your standard Gold subscription cost to be sure!
I'm sure this topic has been done to death by now; it'll be interesting to see if there is a strategic retreat from the position, or if this is truly the new normal.

As I've gotten older, I've realized how quick people can be to tear others down. In fact, it seems to me that people are even quicker to denigrate others that they used to be.
Can I quantify this? No.
Could the people that I am around have an effect? Sure, though I don't think that this is the source.
Sometimes, I just wonder if we are losing some of our collective empathy. I think it is more helpful to be positive and complimentary to people. It may not always work, but such is life...nothing is 100%.
So now you know what's been running through my mind lately. And knowing is half the battle.

Yesterday, my roommate was watching the TV show Bait Cars, where the police set up cars to attract potential car thieves with "crimes of opportunity". I did some extra work in TV shows at one point, so there have been situations where I saw myself or very familiar surroundings on TV-it's kinda at first. Seeing an intersection seven blocks from your place on a reality police show based on grand theft: auto (the offense, not the game) is not exactly as cool.

What is the purpose of a IM that won't let you IM people? I've been trying to chat with a particular person, and the IM window never shows any dialogie from the person, so I can't tell if she types things that I can see or if I type things that she can't see. Bizarre, bizarre...
