When I'm in a relationship, interactions become compartments, that are either filled or not -but either way, in my mind, I have to account for their space. When I'm not in a relationship, I get on a train, headed where I want to end up, and people join me on that train. We can be wholly present for the time we share that traincar, until they depart for their depots, but I do not hold them to it, nor should the expectation be held that I will end up anywhere other than is stamped on my train ticket. Perhaps I wander with them at a depot, but I sooner or later, I will return to that train, for these tickets cost more than I am willing to squander, and these destinations hold expectations of me that I simply cannot turn aside.
