I was reading a group chat discussion regarding people who will not meet anyone from their local area, and I can understand the preference in wanting discretion and not broadcasting that they are in to an alternative lifestyle.
Personally, we don't run around boasting of what our private life entails... but we like the idea that we can meet like minded people in our area for dinner/camping/hanging out where we can be blunt/honest with who we are and what we're looking for. This doesn't mean that the encounters have to be sexual in nature, they can just be broadening our friendship horizons. That other stuff can come later, or not, no skin off our noses

well not really, but a group I joined had a discussion thread going and I thought I'd do a bit of plagerising, and steal that chat topic. The question was how many people should there consist of for an orgy? What's your take on it.. yes no maybe? Here's my reply I just cut and pasted it:
I was involved in a group "meeting" that could be termed as an orgy. There were 3 couples, and then me with my current manfriend, so total of 8 people. I've been a fan of anime for a while, not enough that I'll rush out and buy the manga books/videos but enough that if it's avail to download i'm there. anyways, I admit to liking the adult anime especially the hentai/yuri category, girl on girl (of course) films. It's been years since I've been to a "Porn and Chicken" party, I remember it was actually Porn and Taco Bueno/Domino's/Chik Fil A/whatever the hell is in the cupboard that looks slightly wrong and smells like grandpa's "funny tobacco".

Yet again my good friend and I had a fun filled debate on sexuality. The topic, "Is it considered seduction or coercion if you 'make a move' on someone of the same sex who previously had no interest in non-hetero situations and they 'give in' to the pressure and allow it".
I thought/still think that it doesn't matter what sexual preferance you are, if you respond/and subsequently encourage same sex/different sex play then we can title it seduction (which is a more pleasant term). Coercion just screams of force/non-consent.
The only thing I can agree to the coercion term is by that last part of the statement, 'giving in'. Personally I'm not the one who makes a move in a possible encounter, for the reason that I'm dense, and can never quite tell when someone is interested in jumping my bones, I've pretty much have to be shown to the point of them ripping their clothes off, ripping mine off, tossing me on the couch/bed/table/bean bag and sticking their tongue down my throat. (even then I have to ask... "you want me?!?!?!") ... side tracking..
I know that there are people out there who might end up trying something they originally considered 'taboo' or not their cup of tea because they just want to please their partner, and not have any thought to their own comfort level, and that makes me sad.
I know the reason why this topic was brought up, my friend is hetero, but is starting to be more or less "bi-curious" with each and every initial chat we have that has to deal with my sexuality. (all initiated by said friend not I bc I figure that would be considered a seduction tactic) I will definately not be the one to initiate any contact between us because of the whole "seduction vs. coercion" and because frankly that won't jump with her husband, nor do I want to ruin our friendship by initiating something that obviously discomforts her.
My question (and it took a long-written roundabout way to get it asked) is has anyone else had something like this happen to them? I am a Boricua, just so you know (Otherwise known as Puerto Rican) It seems that not a week will go by that I will meet someone, whether in Wally World, Movie rental place, bar, pool hall, where ever and I'll be asked "What tribe are you from? or you're not Indian are you.. what are you?"

We would visit the island every summer before the days my parents split, right up until I was 10. After that I remember visiting when I was 12, and then 15/16. Life as the "Nuyorican" on the block sucked, all my cousins were fluent in spanish from living on the isle, and some were fluent in English (though I found out later on that some were just being pains in the asses by pretending not to speak english so I had to do charades.)
However I, unfortunately, had pitiable lessons in spanish, our mother was warned by the doctors when our family came to the states in the 70's that she was severely hindering our learning processes by "making" us learn two languages at the same time. what a crock. (I have since learned enough for elementary spanish, and can understand a lot more then I can speak.. conjugation sucks!)
anywho, The reason for this post is that I finally was able to watch the Rosie Perez documentary "Yo Soy Boricua" and it just about made my heart burst because it was my story, and the story of my family, and the continued story of what my will go through. I sat there and watched it with my uber Norweigian husband, and he kept laughing at the freakish coincidences between what he knew of my family, and what is considered a 'trait' of Puerto Ricans.
