Bravo US Air

I would like to congratulate US Air for doing the right thing this week.

US Air removed 6 Muslim Imams from one of their aircraft and detained them till they were cleared of any wrong-doing.

Some of the Press would have you believe this was a case of racial-profiling at its' worst. After all they were only praying in the gate area.

Well, the prayers, while unsettling to some, were not the reason that these Imams were removed. Seems a passenger slipped one of the attendants a note telling that two of the Imams were speaking to each other in Arabic and the only words that the passenger could understand were Al Qua-da and Osama Bin Laden. I don't know about you, but this would worry me also.

In addition, instead of taking their assigned seats, two of them went to the front row and sat there, while two of them went to the back of the plane and two of them sat in the middle (by the exit doors). This is the same configuration that it is speculated that the 9/11 hi-jackers sat in, and is a red-flag to all the flight personnel.

There is currently a theory floating around that these Imams did this so that they would be removed and could sue the airline.

My theory is much darker. I believe these Imams did this so that they could embarrass the airline and maybe hurt it so bad in the public relations department that the next time there were suspicious Arabs on a flight, any airline would think twice before checking them out further. This would make a terrorist attack easier in the future.

What do you think, were these Imams paving the way for future terrorist attacks ... or am I just being paranoid? I've never been much into conspiracy theories in the past ... why does this sound so fishy to me now?

I think they did it on purpose. They wanted the negative press to prove their point. I believe they failed.

Well of course the NY Times is on their side ... I wonder why circulation keeps falling?

Your theory could be true. Although I personally think that the next terrorist attack, whenever it comes, probably won't be on an airplane. They'd be much smarter to take some new tack.

Ahhh, but what if that's what they think we are thinking ... and choose to go with an airplane because they think we are not expecting it.

See ... I am becoming a conspiracy nut. Next post ... Area 51

I think you may be spot on. Not a paranoia, just precautious in our way of thinking and rightfully so!

"Screw us once...Shame on you
Screw us twice...Shame on us!"

A bit of paranoia may be what is needed. After all one man's caution is another man's paranoia

Now stop talking about screwing ... Your getting me all excited

Thanks for your comment on my blog PC.
These Imams - should be more aware of the atmosphere that has been created by their religous countrymen. If they are innocent then they should become ambassadors to allaying every day fears.
Free speech is a right, but in that case should be used wisely and to the best possible ends.
I applaude the airline...and hope all airlines keep up their stringent checks and internal ( human) radars!!
Paranoia rules in this case !!!!

Can you believe they are talking about freedom of speech now? Try saying the word "Bomb" while going through airport security and you will see that their are limits to freedom of speech. After all you wouldn't yell "fire" in a crowded movie theater ... why should you be able to say "Osama" on an airplane?

Interesting thing about Terrorists. They have accomplished there mission even if they didn't destroy anything. They have got us all second guessing and limiting our freedoms. By virtue of our changed habits, they are winning.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

They have changed our behavior ... but haven't we changed theirs also? Do you think Osama likes hiding in caves and huts? Our freedoms have been limited a bit ... but common sense dictates that this is needed. Hope after it is no longer needed, all freedoms will be restored ... but it is a very hard thing to re-win freedom.

i don't like profiling of any sort - big surprise - but i wouldn't want to fly if there was even an iota of doubt about the other passengers.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

It's the times we live in. When these guys were removed the passengers applauded and cheered.

Sounds like a very well thought out plan to me. For what? Who knows, but recently while flying, I found myself looking around to see who else was flying with me, and hoping that my "6th" sense would sound the alarm if needed. No one likes to be generalized, and most of us don't like to generalize...but...as so many have said before me, these are different times we're living in.

I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ~Marilyn

If there is anyway I can drive to my destination, I'll do it rather than fly.

You are NOT paranoid and I would have asked for another flight

I think most of the passengers on that flight agree with us, they gave the flight crew a standing ovation when the Imams were removed.
