Just because

When we break-up with our lover, meaning , when we choose not to be involved in each other's lives anymore , isn't it fair to the time we spent in the past to at least be cool with each other ???

One of my ex's recently came to me and started to brag that he bought a house ( his 1rst ) I mean it was exciting that he bought a house , but it wasn't enough for him to just say he bought a house , but he started to compare the size of his house to my mother's house (??) Like , my mom's (??) Really ? And I gave him a high five but he hesitated at first to participate. Lol

What's he thinking?
I would like to understand.

 An attempt at jealousy is a possibility or a passive aggressive "I'm successful see you blew it" as for comparing house sizes I'll leave that to Sigmund Freud...lol
