"Anathema" ? I've absolutely no idea what that means  "hook up" to me means a one night stand, may or may not include a drink/dinner but will definitely involve sex of some description. I too chuckle at the fact that men list the activities that they enjoy.. the movies, theatre, dinner, shark wrestling, hiking, camping.... blah blah ... Errrr hang on mate you're looking for NSA, why does anyone need to know what you enjoy as you won't be doing them together.... You just want SEX, not a lover/companion or heaven forbid an actual relationship!   Ah anathema... the opposite... the anti?!

That’s always confusing. Doesn’t matter tho. You get the choice of entertaining these umm... people.... heh, whether you want to or not. I just ignore the idiots completely. What don’t get are the women seeking an unrealistic God fearing honest monogamous (HA!!) good blah blah blah soul for lifetime partner/marriage on THIS site. Wtf.... why bother here at all? Why Am I here? Sometimes Im just looking to find someone sexy to flirt with. Nothing greater than someone that just clicks with you in that moment. Sometimes Im looking for a connection that will last longer than a "Hi". Someone that is interested in having fun both in bed and out. and Sometimes I just want to fill someone. I googled "hookup" meaning, and one of the informal definitions was "a casual sexual encounter". The word "casual" is very, very vague. lol So I look up the definition of casual, and the one at the top says "relaxed and unconcerned". I get the relaxed part... but the "unconcerned" threw me for a loop. So "hookup" means a relaxed and unconcerned sexual encounter? Thoughts from the Garden...

I think this duality in what people are looking for goes for both sexes. I constantly see profiles with women showing off their scantily clad (if at all) bodies claiming they are here for a meaningful relationship. I think some guys who are here for the hookup, are just adapting their search in order to improve their odds off that illusive NSA connection.

If I were inclined to reductionism (and, in general, I am not), I would say that *everyone* in this community is *here* for entertainment, including a generous dollop of self-gratification. Given the gross disproportion between female and male populations, I strongly suspect "hook-ups" are the exception and not the rule in our interactions.

Definitely a good question indeed. Well in my opinion a hookup is when you get together, yeah some talking then one person starts taking off clothes. Whoever dives first ( typically me ) gets on their hands and knees to start licking as the appetizer.

To me, 'hookup' = quick shag, one night stand. People misconstrue that as NSA, which does not exist in my view. Hookup is wrongly what I thought I needed back in the day and so I joined this site. My definition of a hook up .. and as some one already looked up each words and have their answer. A hook up , in my Opinion will have a connection, there may or may not be length in the relationship. One night , one week or one year, could become a hook up. But I think there should be some realistic conversation. I for one would not touch another even with some one else's hand unless I knew something about the party. I would not want to have a hook up with some one that did not want to know something about me.. I guess I am in a minority that still has some respect for my self and would like to have that with any one I happen to be with..
