Sorry to see you had a run in with a jack ass! I can only imagine it is borderline terrifying to be a female looking for companionship here on AdultFriendFinder. While I do not have the actual numbers, I think it's safe to say that men far outnumber the totals of women who are member here. It's inevitable that occasionally we run into that psycho who just can't take being rejected! There really is no screening process here. The best we can do is attempt to screen those members through messages. While it's not an exact science, you get the vibe about a persons personality, eventually. I've "met" some really great people here. I've also "met" a few headcases!! LOL!! The vast majority I'll probably never meet in person. You know, I find it funny that you went through, what I can only assume, a traumatic experience with a stalker and you have guys responding to your post doing exactly what Mr. X did. They are sympathizing and trying to change your mind, telling you its ok, and trying to make you feel like its bad to want to not meet people from this site, like your some poor lonely woman sitting at home with you cats and porn. You had a bad experience, it shook you, take all the time you need, and hey, if you never meet someone online again, there still is the REAL world (directed to the poster that assumes you'll be lonely without this site).
