I'm relieved it's over...and disappointed in not getting to enjoy any part of it.
Just be glad you had some enjoyment.

Love your photos by the way...especially the one with the "Naughty and Nice" towel.

If I Had Known I'd Live This Long I'd Have Taken Better Care Of Myself..!!

As I get older I hear that more often. People are just relived when the holiday season is over. I'm not much on the holidays. Over the years I have just see so many fake people, so many hurt, so much greed and so many who feel they are left out that it makes it hard for me to enjoy it. I can not turn a blind eye to what is all around me. It makes my heart sad and heavy. So I kind of avoid all of it and only worry about those who may be hurting during this time. So know you are not alone.
Hugs, JC

Thanks JC....Being empathetic, I do the same....Working in the environment I do I see the broad spectrum, and feel guilty for just trying to survive and keep my emotions semi intact.

I think next year I am going to spend it serving the men and women of the Military that are in transport the days surrounding Christmas.

I love that part too, to a point.....when I run out of time and money!! LOL....And I have to say, one of the things I learned through all my "self-help" reading was how important ME time was and is...

What makes me tick? My heart of course love!

As for the holidays and Christmas, it is stressful, although I thrive on finding the perfect gifts for loved ones, and wrapping them creatively!

I am thinking the Cuckoo theory is most likely. I am certain your "ticker" is fine but will happily try to tune it for you anyway!

I'm definitely thinking my ticker could use some tuning.

No tune up needed. (Well ... not that kind.)

If only we could arrange to have just the young kids for Christmas and have the older relatives just drop them off (then go home and wait for a phone call), we would all have lots of fun.

After all isn't that what Christmas and the season of giving supposed to be all about?

I like this definition of Relative : Something having a relation or connection to something (or somebody)else.

Relief? Absolutely.

Let Down? Nope (Well ... maybe ... had to substitute the "XXX One on One" due to "local demands".)

Not at all. It's a stressful time of the year and is only made worse by the Rockwell like approach everyone thinks it should be like. Not so, just let it happen.
That's hindsight on that last comment. I can say it now that it's over, but next November, it will begin again and the stress will begin.

No, I can relate in so many ways.

Have we talked before in a group area? If so, it's been a long while, if not, then it's nice to meet you.

".the only sister that gives me hug (but took every dime and any hope of a new life) my mom left for me when she died.....my dad, who says I'm negative if I say anything, and not being "cooperative" if I say nothing.....and my spouse....the "perfect" man in public....."

Your remaining family is fucked up. It's not your fault you can't stand them. It's theirs.

What I would do differently is get my money back from my sister if I had to sue her in court, tell my father not to come around if he couldn't be supportive of me stopping sister from fucking me over and putting them all on notice that none of them are indespendible.

Sounds perfectly miserable to have to pretend around them!
I don't allow people like that in my life, family or not.

I think MOST folks are glad when it is over. It’s well documented that more heart attacks occur on Christmas Day than on any other day of the year. It is a very stressful time – everyone wanting Norman Rockwell, but getting Norman Lear.

LOL....Not sure what I expected when my kids got older..(definately more expensive)

As my SON was driving us back from family Christmas, he sighs and says..."wow...I remember the good old days...driving back, and you'd find an airplane and yell 'Look! there's Santa'"...

Have to admit; that got to me...

Good thoughts to ponder. IMO dread of the Holidays is for those who are "unhappy or uncomfortable with themselves" whereas relief is for those who are "happy or comfortable with themselves". Thoughts?

Well, in all honesty, I can say that is part of my dread....but only part....

I'll have to think more about it....
