I mean it's okay to make friends in person with people you aren't attracted to, but to send someone messages like this is fucking weird. This guy is basically saying that I am so beneath his standards and so beneath him, and he thinks he is being nice? *my head explodes* Honestly, I've never identified as attractive. I'm 27 and I've never had a boyfriend or guys lining up to date me. I'm also afraid of what some guys really think of me even if they keep telling me I'm pretty. I don't feel like what their said opinions count anyway since they were not my boyfriends. I know I'm not really a good catch. I didn't finish college. I'm not what people consider smart or well rounded. I'm not very interesting. I often feel embarrassed, thinking that some people will look at me and think I am nobody. I just found out yesterday, a guy I liked is dating someone else. I really didn't need this. This ruined my night. |

Actually, this isn't the first time a guy told me I was ugly or that I'm ugly but he wants to be friends with me. It's happened a few times before. It's bizarre because I would never message a stranger online with the intention he has. I really hope this guy is not for real and that he just harasses other people online with ridiculous messages. It's also insulting that he thinks I am so stupid to give him positive responses with what he is telling me and that I would want to be his friend. Plus, he's got no common sense. Just chalk it up to him being an idiot. Bet he meets a lot women, eh ?

When a presumably straight male , any age, says, "I wasn't trying to hook up w you just wanted to make new friends", you can bet he wants to hook up with you. "I'm just looking for friends", should raise all kinds of flags. Next time a straight male says he is just looking for friends, tell him there are plenty of males he can contact.

I swear when you stop trying online dating sites and participate in actually meeting people in real life situations your 'bad luck' will start to turn around. It takes time, my first dates were clumsy and some were ok, but by failing and rethinking I have had some ( many, ok) amazing REAL experiences, not online, not through online, not meeting online....I give up.
