Adam (MCA) Yauch is to have cancer surgery next week so they have cancelled Lolla and their earlier concert at the Congress Theater.

Looking at their web site, they have no tour dates listed so who knows how long they will be out. It does mention refunding their Hollywood Bowl concert on Sept. 24, so it may be awhile.

No Lolla headliner replacement band has been named.

This is the second cancer case hitting Lolla's headliners! Depche Mode's lead signer, Dave Gahan, was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May and they shut down their European tour for about a month. And DM just cancelled to other dates because Gahan tore his calf muscle!

Here is to hoping the best for Adam.

UPDATE:

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are replacing the Beastie Boys. Per the Chicago Sun Times, "Lollapalooza spokeswoman Shelby Meade said promoters C3 Presents will not be offering refunds or exchanges for concertgoers who bought tickets specifically to see the Beastie Boys.".

You can see a Yeah Yeah Yeahs video Snakesweat at pitchfork.tv but it is more visual than musical.

So if you bought a single day pass just to see them, I guess you are screwed (but luckily you are on the A F F site - the place for screwing).

 I heard about this last night, Im not a huge fan but growing up i did listen to them, what kind of cancer does he have they didnt say ?

 He has cancer under his left jaw (if the video is correct) in his parodic gland and also in a lymph node in that area.

It should not affect his voice (and hopefully not his jaw).

They did a body scan and found nothing else, so I guess they expect a full recovery.
