Hello Andrew,

My name is Nick and I was one of your members that was interviewed by David Klesmodel of the WSJ Online a couple weeks ago. I have asked your PM (Peggy) to forward an email between her and I to you.

For the Blog section. Many of members are having complaints about the posting lags (delays) and I believe many of us would much prefer to seeing this resolved then adding new features at this time. This same problem is affecting groups as well. Just yesterday, I noticed in a poll I took about members having success on the site that many comments were not there and then all of sudden one starts to show and another shows a few hours later that was posted before the others showed. In other words, the postings were out of sinc and many were delayed over 24 hours.

I would love to see us bloggers able to use the standard html for making tables, marquees, backgrounds and use of wallpapers as backgrounds too.

A while back I showed members the scrolling marquee and it caused an effect on the request review because the html tag was not closed (ended) ; consequently, the Request review link scrolled across the screen as well. Is there a way to move the Request Review out of the text box (table area) area and place it by the reply or quote under a member’s photo that is on the left side of the posting?

I just like to point out, that many of us members are familiar with HTML and not so familiar with the BBS Tags used and get confused in them with the different tag commands. It would be nice to see both types of tags be allowed.

Also it would be nice to see you place a posting of explanation of certain things that are being done or being resolved in concerns to all postings, so we members can know that our reports or complaints are being worked on. It make it better to hear it from you and calm down some of the members of the site too

Ok, reading the replies, comments here ... seem to be all one sided.
Who really cares who's popular, is it making money by being popular?
Does it draw in new memberships based on the blogs and the content therein?
Just my humble thoughts here for the little people.

If you "upgrade" the blogs to paying members only ... I sorta see it as a way to get rid of the "Standard Members", at least those who like to meet like minded folks, and find another outlet for friendship and or other means that is connected to this site.
But, I'm almost sure that most comments, made here by Standard Members, will fall completely between the cracks.

If you want just a PAYING site, then strike out the "Free for Standard Members" and just make it like the rest of the Internet Dating sites.
NO wonder this site was able to buy up the little man's projects here.
Be that as it may... do what the upper-class needs for they are the ones that make this site possible for the little people.
JMHO
Thanks

I have to agree with SaintLianna..there is one blogger in particular that appears almost every other rotation.

Please get rid of the unique comment rating system..it's silly and it hurts those of us that have a regular following.

I don't care for the polls either, I don't feel they belong in the blogs.

One last thing: Instructions about how to delete the entire blog without having to go to every single post and delete them would be very helpful. I was going to remove my blog but couldnt' figure out how.

When I click on the "blog" link, I would like to see the blogs that are from bloggers in my area or at least have that option in settings.

This particular post of yours today says that you posted on March 6th, which is tomorrow...today is Sunday the 5th....or could you be somewhere in near Australia?

    Keep up the good work!
You already have the option to see bloggers from your area. It's called "GET LOCAL" and has been in place for quite some time.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

What I like of the recent new features:

Unread posts on my Watched Blog list are highlighted - very helpful

Under # of comments, the NEW comments are separated. I LOVE this! I just love it.

Admission of a cranky subscriber: [/]
Yes, it does seem that things have been posting a little faster lately. Still skeptical, but pleased with reservation

Doesn't matter:
The polls. Keep 'em or leave 'em. I'm guessing that after the novelty of everyone doing a "how stupid are these polls" poll, it might actually be an interesting tool. And the way they were programmed was good.

That thing were you can vote on whether or not you agree with a comment is kinda dumb and I've not seen anyone actually use it. Plus it's sort of in the way.

Still wants:
More photo flexibility - like being able to post any photo within a comment. Bigger size would be great, but that uses the already taxed bandwidth, so I am willing to sacrifice that for ease of site operation

Mahalo!

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

Wow your right… I’ve been looking for that for ages! Thanks, to date I’ve been clicking 5 links to get to the local Australian / NSW bloggers you just saved me heaps of time. Thanks again.

Does the site need a usability study completed possibly?

Thanks for asking -

1) It seems every now and then folks comment and I can't see the comment until hours and hours later. Also, there has been at least two instances where a comment is posted (numbers tell me so) yet the comment never appears.

2) Sometimes I want to correct or change the photo I added to my post and I go to change it and the original keeps appearing or never goes away.

3) Sometimes a post will be altered. For example - the subject line may say "one-two-three" and when I look at it later all it relfects is "one-". I'm not sure why this happens, but it's frustrating.

4) I will be glad to see it if posts appear quickly - however my experience is it takes hours and hours - sometimes over night.

5) When I edit a blog by removing a word or two or adding a word or two it is amazing how long it takes for the edits to appear. I understand that the blogs are reviewed, but it would be nice if the edits could be reviewed quickly instead of taking hours and hours.

I appreciate the changes to the blogs that have been recently made and I appreciate your asking for and acting upon feedback.

Take care! Whisper...

Ok, we started to read all of the posts, but with 6 pages of comments, we thought we'd just write ours down and let your staff collate:

1. WYSIWYG client side editor for the add a blog and add a comment page. I volunteer to write it the client side script (for free).

2. Ability to change/edit a comment after it has been posted.

3. A way to identify which of a couple is blogging or posting.

4. Separate lists for men/women/couples on the "most popular".

5. Count unique responders PER post, not unique (across posts) for xx days in determing the ranks.

6. The ability to enter hyperlinks using [link][/link] syntax. If you're blogging about current events its polite to refer back to sources.

7. More HTML like editing capabilities (e.g. tables, embedded pictures, etc. Let those of us who can handle HTML use it to improve the appearence of our posts.

8. FONTS.

9. Immediate posting/updating for gold/silver members. Hey, pay to play!

Good luck, and GREAT idea to use this forum to solicit feedback!

The polls is a little disconnected from the blog itself, it allows people to be even meaner in secret than they are when they have to comment. It only allows for others to continue mischief.

I think that the new feature about new comments and the location of said comments is a very good idea, and should remain.

I tend to agree with others who recommended being able to add pictures within the blogs than on the side. Aslo I would like to be able to add different pictures of myself inside the blog post itself.

I hope this dont get people mad at me but I would be included in this as well But I think that if a blog post is at least 6 months to a year old then it should be removed but not the comments that came with it. It would also allow the poster to copy the post and keep in a personal file before it was removed from their blog.

Or the older posts should be archived and separated from the newer stuff. That way a member wont have to scroll through page after page to find a comment on an old blog because it will be no longer available to comment on. I hope I didnt confuse anyone on this. Or upset anyone.

I am the real deal! "Come Get Me!!!"

FreeLove999 reminded me of something else that I also feel needs some attention so I'll just quote her....

i don't only want to see the new comments on my most recent posts -- but it should show on that list whenever someone comments on an old post -- even one from a year ago.

yeah, just what she said right there

there is something yet still but it escapes me

it won't a bit later though

Oh yeah, one more. A user friendly (no code use necessary dammit! ) customizable personalized blog intro page in which we choose whatever appears there. Right now we have no choise but to view what lists are shown. I think we should have the option of choosing what lists of data appear on that page.

Just wanted to echo WickedWytch69's suggestion of a way to see recent comments on your blog - the "most recent responses" list on the right only seems to cover the last ten blog posts, there's been several times someone has added a comment to an old blog posting and I've not noticed it for weeks or even months. Which is a shame.

I was very happy to see the current set of enhancements - polls are a gimmick of course but they'll die down once the novelty wears off. I really like the watched blogs page now highlighting blogs with new posts in yellow.

........I'm trying to leave this damn thing, why can't they review my post when I need them to lol. Andrew when you read this, can you please please please either remove my entire blog or tell me how I can do it without going through each individual post playing hide and seek.

Thank you

the new layout of author/blog title is harder to read than before.
.
what's the deal with the most recent posts section? sometimes it goes back 3-5 pages, sometimes just one. (why?)
.
being able to customize which sections (and in what layout) pop up in my blog would be nice.

Kevnico, I would like to give you an idea as to why the reinventing of HTML tags with the BBS tags.

One: It is an easy to learn coding for the average beginner.

As we know in HTML if we change the font color it would look like this < font color= "blue" > your text in blue color < /font >

If we change the size it would be < font size="4" > the size of the font < /font >

I won't show the code but if we were to want to link to our photos, blogs postings, groups and other members handles and photos, etc... the code would be much more difficult for a beginner to learn; in addition, would require many more key strokes as well to write that code.

TWO- The BBS tag coding allows the developer of BLOGS to have more control over what is permitted and not permitted; thus it is a way to avoid certain things that can be done in HTML that can be considered as abuse by the developer of the Blogging area or of the site.

In Response to Broc about audio music clips or videos, those are files that are large in comparison to still images (photos, gif's, jpg's) that must be uploaded to a server and thus require space on the servers and then downloaded to the viewer or listener. While an image file (photo) may only take up 50kb for example, an audio or video file would take up several megabytes. Consequently, this will cause a decrease in bandwidth and an effect on the servers and things would become sluggish because of such large files being downloaded to several viewers at once, and especially with multiple video or audio files being uploaded and downloaded by the users of Blog sections.

I agree that many of Kevnico suggestions are superb. Just yesterday I had to delete a comment made in my Blog that had a private email address in the posting that made it way through the filter.

I saw a lot of comments about how My Space and 360 are set up. 360?? Please! Give me a break! I get spammed to death on 360. I was exploring My Space yesterday. Yes, it is free, it is also supported by advertisement. Another site that came to mind was Live Journal. I have a premium account (for my eyes only) on that site. Why premium and not free? Because the premium membership offered me more features. (photograph storage, photograph posting, blog designing, emailing, instant messaging, a better search engine, polling and a better way to control viewing of my blog/journal and comments)

Reading through the comments it looks like a lot of people would like AdultFriendFinder to offer blog features the way some of the other blog sites do.

I want to remind everyone that AdultFriendFinder started off as dating/sex site. They make their money by giving premium members (mostly men) the ability to view profiles/pictures/web cams and send out emails. They also knew they needed to offer a standard member feature to draw the crowd in. As a standard female all I had to do was write a profile, post a pretty picture then sit back and sort through the email. If I was interested in someone who emailed me and they did not send a photograph I was able to email them and ask for the picture. I had no reason to pay for this site. AdultFriendFinder also discovered somewhere down the line that the standard members feature brought in people abusing the site, (fake profiles, links to other paid sites, etc…

I can’t help but feel that if AdultFriendFinder added most of these suggested blog features to ALL members, people will start abusing the blog site.

Ability to post photographs in blogs (other then the little thumbnail we can post on the left side of the page) ‒ Too tempting for me, I’d post the dicks that came with the emails I write about. There goes discretion. I can also see a lot of visits to the neighborhood porn site to grab, download and post on the blog these photographs, then claim they are my boobies. Let’s not forget about standard members not being able to view profile photographs. Oh the things we could do IF we could embed photographs into our blog.

NO MUSIC OR VIDEO! OMG, You have no idea how slow my computer ran (and she’s not even obsolete) every time I visited a blog on My Space that had music piped in.

Ability to add backgrounds or skins on our blog- That could work to our advantage, some people get carried away with their creativity. I can see me NOT visiting that blog again.

The list- Travs mentioned how My Space has a popular blog list. Yes, they do have one. It was also a link not an in your face list.

I no longer have a reason to be on this site for what it is advertise as. I met what it was I was seeking last summer. It is the blogs and the friends I met through the blogs that have kept me here. I am also a paying member. Not to view local profiles or hook up with the local men, but to view the profiles and email my blog friends. I’m not sure how much longer I will keep my paying membership. If I was offered “blog perks” as a premium member I may keep it, that depends on what those perks were.

AdultFriendFinder has to decide for themselves if they want to be a “blog site” or a “dating/sex site” and where/how they will make the most money.

Something else I would really like to see…maybe a premium member perk. I DO NOT LIKE the fact that I am listed as a lesbian. Nothing against them but if you search my screen name I show up on that site name. Also,as much as I enjoy being able to view the blogs without logging in, I don’t care for that kind of exposure.

How about giving frequent bloggers discount prices for renewal as premioum members. They create content that others enjoy, so encourage renewal and use. Feed the machine that fuels the beast! I would have suggested premium intros to hot sex partners, but I think that is illegal in most states...

Andrew good to see the changes ringing in.Would it be possible to alter the way in which we can choose our watched blogs and watched posts slightly. At present its really time consuming to go through and delete unwanted ones individually, as it takes time for them to go, before you can move onto the next.

Could we have the facility to select more than one at a time, rather than clicking on each x individually.I hope this is easy to impliment as it would save time for bloggers big and small.

Also as I am sure you are aware there is great support for a simple "blog updates/feedback page" where we can be informed of changes /updates/planned work, or why bugs are ocurring.Could we have a link to it on the main blog page at the top? perhaps you could then link from that to a CS report form, so you and your team instantly know the bug being reported is to do with the blogs.

Its good that you are doing this at the moment through your own personal pages. As Im sure you can tell by now, this community will be very tolerent as long as they know whats going on, and as you say its that community feel which makes blogland such a special place that utilised right can be a good enhancement to this site and its services. Therefore I would have thought that the logical progression is an information page.

Its just a thought. Its good to see you involved in this area of the site.

Keep up the good work

Amber

Depressing is how it makes me feel.

Yes, HotMatch has been wonderful, amazing, and actually helpful in the upgrades. There are a ton of wonderful suggestions here. But it's still is depressing to think that all this work you put into this site and it becomes mundane like any other sex/dating site just seems sad. I do agree, there should be bennies for each level of membership, non-paying & paying. But, the Blogs are a general perk of the site.

Oh, just some FYI and I'm SO NOT trying to promote any other site here, but -myspace.- just upgraded to include -mymaturespace.- another way of trying to gather the "standard members" that other sites shooo away. This site has it's downfall, but then, what's left for the standard members of this or anyother site to go when everyone shuns you?

I still like it here. Hope to remain here. But time will tell.
warm wishes & good luck on your decisions.
