New Blog Page is Live
New Blog Page is Live The new Blog page is live for 100% of users. The new design will be the default view for all members. Users who want to view the old look will need to click 'Classic View'. Also, we've added some more metrics to expand the variety of posts that appear in the Trending Blog Posts column. Our goal was to strike a balance between site needs and user preferences, and we hope we have worked out an acceptable medium. Thank you to all of you who were so involved in this project. We laughed, we cried, we threw some rotten vegetables around, but I really believe we were able to achieve some positive change. I hope you guys find this new design to be beneficial to community interaction and offer a lot more options to browse the blogs according to your own tastes. |

Thanks Aryana.....I think a great many people have noticed.....but this is a good move for bloggers and for the site as a whole, ~~Anais Nin~~

I'm sorry, this SUCKS for those of us that are ACTIVE bloggers and follow ACTIVE Blogers!!! Yet another way that A F F is screwing themselves! {=} An empty half of the bed is waiting...{=}

Thankyou Aryana and colleagues, for listening, and for a job well done!

No wonder just now when it still not change, I copy the URL and check on the new blog page it stay that way.

Is there a possible change to the new blog style. Instead of seeing Trending post when I open the blog page. How about showing the recent blog posting listing instead. For that page at least, I see new post everytime, I click to check on blog while that trending page of listing is pity dead for at least 2 days as it is nearly the same old listing of those same member blog topic.

Is there a way that when we click on certain of those feature on the left page to view the list and then click on certain topic to view on that list. Is there a way that it open on a different tab or window so that we can get back on the next on that list without keep go back to click 'Blog' then click back on that features and look for where you last check to continue. Hope my explanation is understandable for you to understand what I am saying. Thank you.

Just want to add my thoughts here. I would prefer to have the "My Blog" and the "My Settings" up the top of the page rather than at the bottom so it is actually easier to get to my blog. Linda

This is the silliest change I have seen on this site. Why can we not "click" classic and use it permanently ( if we so choose) instead of coming into the new view having to do it each time we come into the "blog world"?

I think it is great, Aryana! Thanks so much! I'm already finding new bloggers! Never ignore those who care for you you will have lost diamonds while you were collecting stones
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

everything new takes time, my initial thought is I don't like it all, I hope that you keep the option of the classic view available and make it a permanent option for those who would like to keep it some times the things that comes from between my ears makes me pause for reflection

for those looking for the link to your own watched list, recent post, most active recent posts, etc...look the left column and it's all there... to get to your own blog static page, i just go back to the classic view, and you can easily go back to your own blog... congratulation, aryana... i like it...i think you did a good job designing it...

In all the years I've worked around programmers and end users there are two consistent truisms: 1. When things change, there will be people who get sand in their panites, some of them get a whole dune. 2. Eventually most of them adjust to the change and calm down....until the next change Excuse me while I sit back with my bowl of popcorn

I agree. For those of who liked the classic view, and didn't care which blogs were "on top", is there a way we can choose it instead? Check out my profile or and become a "watcher" of my blog FMAOPLS,to learn more about me, and for intelligent, lively, smartassy and fun discussion, with a little irreverence thrown in. "Like" or comment on my photos, and I promise I'll add more. Thanks.

We should be able to set what view we want as a default, so each time we log in it stays the way we wish.

Bucking the internet trend of moving away from text filled pages to pages with photos, AdultFriendFinder moves the other way. Rebar100 Just the right amount of wrong. Occasional participant in various ongoing blogging projects. Rather be naked. The Blog: [REBAR100]

I'm sorry this is just horrible that all you had to do was change the code from the top bloggers to Randomizer for that list, Not make it a giant pain in the ass to check and see if the blogs I follow are updated. Just a very poorly thought out layout that goes back to the 90s Don't compromise yourself! You are all you've got!

Why can't we keep the "classic view" as our default??? Why in the "new" default view are we unable to see our watched blog list??? Why don't you ask people like AdultFriendFinder members what it is WE want??? Ask us and we'll tell you. Does it matter what WE the paying members want??? I say the new look is UNACCEPTABLE.

I'm surprised that this page went live so quickly. Although none of my suggestions to make it easier to use with a touch screen were incorporated, it's still clean-looking (except for the tacky banner at the bottom). For that matter, were any of the user suggestions incorporated at all? Since the programmers were able to produce a brand new page, complete with tacky banners, that only affects a tiny fraction of the membership, so quickly, then the bugs and other issues existing in the message center, IMC and webcams, which affect the overall population, can be addressed just as quickly, right?

i find interesting to this post so many different culture people come here to give their comment

Excellent suggestions McP. There's no doubt the main page could do with a creative eye to make it more interesting in appearance and functionality! Aryana, any thoughts?

I agree with InterestedParty, the pic he posted there is a much better layout as it shows the "my watched blogs" at the top of the page without having to click on another link. Maybe this would make all those complaining feel a bit happier about the change? Also for all those complaining here about wanting it to go back to the old way all you have to do is click on "classic view" it's not rocket science and really is not difficult. Thank your lucky stars you have the option for "classic view" blog page as i'd like the option to use old message centre but i don't have "classic view" option for message centre and have to use this crappy new facebo*k clone version message centre. I do support the change on the blogs as i thought the old blog main page which is now "classic view" had become static and stale. However i'm finding most of the trending posts now take too long to read, as i prefer to read shorter blogs with photos (if i want to read War and Peace i'll buy a novel). I'm finding i prefer to click on the "random blogs" link to find new stuff to check out. I don't think length of post is a good measurement of what should be a trending post, but that's just my opinion. I think the "my watched blogs" SHOULD be incorporated onto the main page somewhere though as people these days want to navigate sites quickly and efficiently.

It's going to take some getting used to. Personally, I'm sticking with the "classic view" for now. It would be impossible to accommodate everyone's "browsing styles". When you remove a post or blog from the "classic view" page, it take you back to the main page. Kinda annoying, but I just do a double back click then a refresh (like I'd normally do anyway), so it doesn't really affect me. I hope this isn't the final look. .. Glad that there aren't major glitches. .. Many others have offered good suggestions. I do appreciate you taking all the input. Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

Quite a nice idea. But I don't like the trending post list below to my blog watch blog list. There might be members who might not even had blog watcher list at all. I would rather see the recent blog post below then the trending post.
