Thanks for the silver membership.  But I cant see the profiles of the men who respond for a few days. I think that part could work better.

This whole thing is a scam aimed at new male members. See here's why..... new male members will get an email from women who are in the icebreaker scheme, and then the new male members will be told they need to upgrade to silver or gold in order to read the email, message. Just another way of getting the guys to cough up money!

that is simply not true. A standard member can receive emails and respond to received emails. The upgrade would come in with viewing the profile. What you say may be true for single females or couples? I know this for a fact because when my profile went standard a while ago on here, i received an email and was told i needed to upgrade in order to reply to the message that was sent to me.

If you get the required number of 'views' you can earn the right to view profiles and respond.

You are correct, but as we all know single male members very rarely, if ever, get the number of required profile views, to gain the right to view profiles and respond to emails.....Ergo, single male members will be told by the site they need to pay to upgrade. You reference the you let your gold expire~ When I allowed my silver to expire there was an "adjustment period" (of several days/almost a week) that Nothing associated with my profile worked correctly!Then,and still now I get the upgrade page if I attempt a profile view or send a first mail Or go over the mail replies limit. When I stopped paying to "play" here...I've had no problems what so ever in responding to emails sent to me...ever...going on three years now...I did hear that they put some restrictions on new members about two years ago...something along the lines of a two week "grace period" where Standards could not reply to emails...but I think those went out the window with the new email system...your mileage may vary...

The site must have changed this for icebreaker messages then......as i said earlier, when my profile went to standard membership a while ago on here, i got an email from another member. When i tried to reply to the email i could'nt, and i was told by the site i needed to upgrade to silver or gold in order to reply.

Yes i am a Gold member now, i'm talking about my experience on the site over a year ago, when i let my membership lapse back to standard,..... before i upgraded to my current Gold.

A local blogger was mentioning that she opted in for th icebreaker last week but didn't get the silver ball, so I went to the SS blog to see if there've been any changes and came across that response. I wasn't paying any attention to the gender of the member they were responding to but that wording is misleading either way. If they were responding to a male member, they should be clear that the Icebreakers are sent to new male members matching the women's cupid settings and denial shouldn't even be an issue since as far as I know, there is no opting in to receive Icebreakers. Or is there? They're being too general with their response and it can lead to misunderstandings.

What she wrote in the blog was that she opened a new account to get the IB.Ryan has mentioned the Sites stance on existing members opening new accounts to get the promotion,both in the group and again briefly in this thread. ok i was getting responses from new members but i could not contact them only the gold could. i got the same notice i am on xmatch and on both sites i have every thing the way it should be. every thing is turned on and pics are up and verified. so what and the hell are they doing i think this is a form of fraud on the sites part. they give it to you then they take it back with out warning then have the balls to ask you to upgrade.it's all about the money i think.

Well it appears to me they discontinued the program and just yanked it all. So apparently free lifetime membership equals two months? Alternatively somebody fucked up big time and accidentally shut them off. They NEED to get someone on here to tell us what the heck is going on and let us know if this was deliberate or accidental.

I also got the revoke message - and haven't touched the setting after I got my silver balls. So as it was for life, did I now then reach my expiry date??? Fix the thing and fast... Same here. I hadn't been on the site at all during the past two days and I certainly haven't changed any settings. I'm presuming (and hoping) it's a glitch as I would like to think that, if the promo is revoked, we would be told properly. Or am I being naive? lol I hope someone can let us know please.
