Icebreakers - How's It Going Ladies?

Dang wish all the ladies had a smile like that/ but I think the icebreaker should come from the men . because most women willnt sent a guy a icebreaker .so make it harder to try and meet like minded ppl
Goodwrench, I am sure your daughter smiles just like that every day. I know you mean this with good intent, I really do. I must say though that the Ice Breakers men would send (NOT ALL NOT ALbut way too many would just send "wanna f*ck" and think THAT is an ice breaker. I do agree that most women don't send emails, but the Ice Breaker is sent out to the men by the site, the women that volunteered to be part of the program merely write it. There is no choice as to who gets it other than it was 'supposed to' match the cupid settings, and that is obviously not happening. So again, no onen that is like minded is connecting.

I am all for people that are 'like minded' meeting... but I am trying to be as honest as possible here. I have seen way too many 'this is a sex site' blogs and messages to know that there is a plethora of people that think sex means f*cking and nothing else and if we don't meet we should leave the site. WRONG!! People that like sex do NOT have to have sex with anyone and everyone, most are very picky about their partner. Everyone is NOT here to 'meet' many are bloggers, writers in the erotic stories section, voyeurs, and exhibitionists. READING PROFILES IS ESSENTIAL!!! So again, even with the Ice Breaker program there is no definite 'match' as it is automated not a human being choosing the recipients.

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING!! The 'ladies' don't 'send' you an Ice Breaker. If you match the cupid settings the SITE CHOOSES if you get one or not.
    .
This is going to be a big part of the problem Ryan.... guys seriously think we 'send' them to them as you have noted and do not get that it is randomly sent to them based on YOUR decision of if they match our Cupid Settings or not, and many do NOT match at all.
Why wouldn't a man who's just joined the site believe that you had sent the icebreaker? Or hotlisted him, or flirted with him (particularly these because he doesn't get an email - he doesn't even get a chance to communicate with you but you appear to be interested in him)? He can't even view your profile, he can't even see if you are a match? So what do you expect him to think?

You've legitimised the site sending out spam by allowing them to use your profile name.

That is a BIG part of the problem if you haven't noticed. Many women are now complaining about that, I personally am not complaining but I was explaining to the man that asked the question. He made the comment "let's see if the ladies will send men an ice breaker' and I wanted him to know, as it IS confusing to anyone receiving it, that we didn't actually look at their profile and choose them. It is a major MAJOR problem with this program.

As for him not being able to read my profile, I DID put in my ice breaker part of my profile. I have had it go to Gold members, and I can't read THEIR profile. lol I think that this is all part of why the discussion is being had as to try and tweak it and fix the problems with the program to lessen the false ideas and work it into something that does actually work.

As for spam, that is no more spam to me than guys who send out the same email to 100 women in hopes that one answers. I have seen them and noted that what they wrote shows they never even saw my profile and had friends with the exact same email from the exact same guy because were live near each other.

Did you appreciate the spam? I imagine not. Did you appreciate an email from a man who hadn't read your profile? I imagine not. Did you appreciate an email that was identical to emails that he'd sent to other women? I imagine not.

But... the icebreaker is sent on your behalf without you reading his profile and it's a generic email sent out to possibly many men (you won't even know how many).

As you say, it's no more (or less) spam than men sending out the same email to 100 women.

Do two wrongs now make a right?

First, that is why this thread has been written BY THE SITE. To see what is going on and how people are reacting to it.

Second, I DO NOT RUN The fucking site, so bitching at me gets you nowhere.

Third, ASK ALL THE OTHER WOMEN this question and get the hell off my personal back.

Fourth, I didn't give a SHIT about those emails because I am an EXHIBITIONIST and so anyone and EVERYONE is able and I WANT them to look at my cam. The more the MERRIER and I said that in the post that you freaking quoted. I AM NOT COMPLAINING about those emails. Got it now?

So I saw NOTHING WRONG with emails that I got. I hoped they watched my show!!!

Does anyone have a screen shot of what an icebreaker looks like in a guy's inbox? Or if you don't want to share private information like that, can someone tell us whether there's anything attached to the icebreaker that explains how and why it's being sent?

Does it look different or does it just look like a regular email?

HEY LADY!!!
You don't have to YELL at people here to make your point. We can understand you have a difference of opinion, but just because you use a bigger font doesn't mean you're more correct or your opinion is given more weight than everyone else.

If a NEW guy gets an auto email from a woman on here, he's going to think the sender is interested in him. He won't know what an Icebraker is. Further, goody for you that you put something along the lines of "this is automated" in your wording --bless your heart. Now seriously, not everyone will do that & there will be confusion.

I think my man "FullOn4U" is right: This is just another way for AdultFriendFinder to sucker in the new guys & the unknowing when they receive an automated mail (SPAM) in their in box. Guy sees it, they think the lady is interested and or they are down to f#ck. By entering in to this IceBreakers, you ladies are allowing AdultFriendFinder to spoof & spam the members from your account; plain & simple. But, the AdultFriendFinder plan is to sucker these guys in to upgrading to a paid membership, so they can contact you, see your pics, & profile... because you contacted them (automated or not,) they think you're interested.

Here is a novel concept and old fashioned concept: If you're interested in someone, initiate contact yourself. THERE! That solves this whole thing.

I still maintain this dilutes the value of having a paid silver membership. I'll bet later this year, we'll see AdultFriendFinder introduce a supposedly "better" diamond or platinum level membership to further differentiate among the now diluted silver memberships.

This whole thing is a crock & a scheme you participants are complicit in that allows AdultFriendFinder to sucker in (new) guys to a paid membership. Smooth move y'all.

I got a response from a dude who got my icebreaker and it looked just like a reply to a regular email so I'm supposing the icebreaker looks no different from a regular email we'd send out to others on this site.

In mine, I mentioned that the message was an icebreaker that's sent to newbies who match my cupid settings.

Hey Ryan, I tried to tweak my icebreaker and it was not approved. I only added a sentence or two to my old one and there's no advertising, phone numbers or anything. Obviously your approval process needs some enhancements considering the number of women saying their messages are not approved. How is it done now? Is there a computer scanning them or a human being? We need some better information as to why someone is declined. I have a guess on the phrase, but if so, it's verifying for me that a human doesn't review these because only a computer would be stupid enough to take it out of context.

Also, can your programmers please resize the text box where we input the icebreaker message? It's a pain to work with.

This is what I had submitted:

Hi! Welcome to AdultFriendFinder. You received this email because AdultFriendFinder thinks you match my cupid preferences. I hope you enjoy your membership here and find what you are looking for.

Feel free to check out my profile. If you are a standard member and can't see it, you can visit my blog (Community, blogs, search for my user name), which includes a copy of my profile as well as some of my pictures. If you think you match what I am looking for and live close to me, feel free to drop me an email (but please be patient, because I get a lot of mail!).

I am looking for a local fuck buddy, but I have to get to know the person I choose first, so please approach me nicely and intelligently.

If you don't choose to approach me, I wish you well in your search and welcome you to the site!

Hey Buxy, this is a very widespread problem and really does need answering. I asked Ryan what happens is the new male joiner doesn't fill in their Cupid Settings or 'prefers not to say' as I suspect he then gets matched with you regardless of your settings. If this is the case he is getting more matches for less input which can't be right. At the time even Ryan did not know the answer to this question and I have heard nothing more.

Also there seems to be a widespread glitch on the approval of IBs and updates which are intermittently being denied for no reason and the standard denail message being sent, the same exact same message is sometimes being approved after 2/3 attempts and sometimes not at all.

Hey Ryan, are you there ? We really need answers on these points as it is really messing up the scheme for a lot of participants.

I'm finding it ok except for two things.

1. As others have said, it is no use incebreakers being sent to people who don't match cupid settings. The matching needs to be tweaked to ONLY those who match and if they don't match on anything, don't send it. And I'm including prefer not to say in that. (Why not stress the importance to newbies to fill out their profile/preferences, then we wouldn't have loads of PNTS's. )

2. As a standard member with 'perving rights' I could view basic profile of new members from day one. Now as Freebie Silver I can't. That makes very little sense.

On the whole, i think the system is a good thing. I just hope women using it adopt the idea of saying what the email is or the site starts telling me what it is

This whole thing is a scam aimed at new male members. See here's why..... new male members will get an email from women who are in the icebreaker scheme, and then the new male members will be told they need to upgrade to silver or gold in order to read the email, message.
Just another way of getting the guys to cough up money!

i Was previously a member by the name of bougoureau and they gave me silver, but what they fail to mention is that if you have created an account on passion.com., they have copied the information to A F F . When I went to delete the account on A F F did they tell me that the 2 accounts are linked-NO! So, I deleted the A F F account and then the webpage of passion.com.came up and stated that that account was deleted too !!!! which was not my intention since I signed up on passion.com.and not A F F ...so beware ladies !! have since lost all my points, friends, emails and my blog not to mention my write ups and groups that I belonged to.

It isn't about fair, it's about commerce. This site is in business to make money and they need to offer incentives to get people to pay for a gold membership which has features unavailable to non-paying members or silver members. A three day waiting period for silver members isn't all that much, but if you don't want to wait those three days, upgrade to gold. It's that simple.
