How do you feel about "Find A Hookup?"
|
To be clear, I do not condone the use of a "hook up" tab, vs. a search engine. Personally I find it offensive. My offer of a solution was an effort to keep everyone happy (I come from a large family...problem solving comes naturally). I think the issue here is the terminology you have chosen to use. We all agree that this is an adult website and that many of us ARE in fact seeking sex. But to assume that, because I chose to advertise my body, I am also advertising sex is dangerous territory. What is wrong with the existing search engine? You offered us options to pinpoint what we are looking for, we checked the boxes that applied to us. Men search based on their needs and like a pornograhpic slot machine, images magically appear. If you are trying to advertise sex to paying members, you are in fact, pimping. There is no semantic alternative here. If there are women who want to hook up/ have casual sex/ whatever you want to call it, let their PROFILES speak for them. Since it would appear that the "nays" have the overwhelming majority, I think your decision should be and easy one. When it comes to sex, I need a STRONG connection. Otherwise, the page just keeps buffering and takes FOREVER to load...

I manage a team of 5, and they are all women But I get your point. We want to do a better job marketing to women too. We tend to focus on the aggressive approach. It works for some women too, but what I'm hearing is that it's not the majority. How about if you all create an account as a single female? Add a couple of pictures. Now, just wait. See the emails. Log onto the IM (a place I won't touch with a ten foot pole since I get bombarded with men looking for a wet hole to stick their dicks in). Maybe you don't realize how it is for us? I don't know, I just can't fathom 5 women thinking this was a good idea without knowing how it is for women on this site. Not only are we treated like semen receptacles, but sometimes I actually *am* offered money. Now, where do men get the idea that that is an acceptable way to treat women on this site? I'm on several other adult sites not affiliated with this one and I don't regularly get treated like that. ***

I already get emails from idiots telling me I'm not supposed to be on this site unless I'm here to get laid. I met my BF here almost 4 years ago but also made a lot of friends along the way too. Was I supposed to drop off the site? Make more profile filters, don't change the word "search". The last thing I need is more pissed off guys writing who find me by clicking "find a hookup" & then see my "no sex for you" profile & write me nasty emails for "misleading them". I'm not misleading anyone, my profile is clear. AdultFriendFinder is. Of course my BF only signed up back in the day cuz he saw a "get laid tonight" ad on a porn site but hey, he found more than he bargained for.

Cant say it any better than this. I am on a sex site; I personally like the term adult social, sexual network. I like sex.....I LOVE SEX....I WANT SEX.... I DO NOT WANT HOOKUPS, nor the impication that goes with that. If you need flies, and you piss in the sugar; you aint gonna have crap!!! Sorry; old saying I grew up hearing. Seems a little appropriate.

Holy Heck! This is a terrible idea an I hope it dies a quick and painful death??!! I get that this is a business and that making money is the goal of any business. I get that it's primarily the men who pay for memberships and that money buys them access to the female members. However, Practically any woman on this site can tell you about the *abuse*, not just frustration but ugly, degrading verbal abuse that we get from men who buy the hype and are furious when woman says, "no thank you". I've had so many men write to me saying that they are passing through my town and asking me to stop by their hotel room t have sex with them. Sure I know you want to draw men to this site and keep them coming (and paying) but the shit towards making this site seem like a branch of "Whores R US" is really not cool.

stupid idea thats why i stopped paying for my membership 2 years ago after being a paying member for over 6 1/2 years

Not a good change at all ... and false advertising if nothing else. If I was going to be jumping into bed with every Tom, Dick and Harry (as seems to be assumed with this new wording), I would be out getting paid for it, not giving it away for free on here. [group No Plucked Chickens !!!]

I have a "disclaimer" paragraph on my profile, that says that I'm only here and not on Various's other sites, and if I'm show there, it is without my consent.. They approved it, and it's up that way ... and I've seen my profile posted on other sites that way.

Regarding the term search being replaced with the term up “find a hookup”: while both may achieve the same goal in searching for someone: the implication used in the terminology “find a hookup” is vast different than that of search in what you are looking for and there within is the problem. Everyone knows what search is, common term on almost every web site out there… so why the need to degrade to a cheap cheesy line “find a hookup” rather than “search”. That is an illogical tactic to use unless the site is wishing to instill the notion AdultFriendFinder is only for “fast fucks” and nothing else. That term smacks of the "whore" idea for women and the impression many men will get thus exerting that pressure onto the female members. Now is that what will be successful tactic overall in the end? Seems to me that will back-fire driving women away if not from the site altogether then more likely to say no more often especially when they are view in negative terms which will drive men away cause they “cannot get laid” If the site truly wants a unique or sexual twist to the term search find something more erotic or playful that does not have the overhanging cloud of “fast fuck” concept that implies the infamous “whores r us” idea [post 2834794] [post 2827268] Battle Phantoms.....When the Sun Weeps....Life Revisited a poem [post 2625633].....Pygmalions Moonlight Sonata....[post 2625650] [post 2622197].... I've been on this site for over 8 years in various forms, couples and as a single woman. Mostly I'm here to blog and enjoy that community but I'm met some amazing people including my fiance. I'm appalled that this site is constantly trying to portray its few remaining female members as whores and hookers who are only here to fuck. No wonder you're hurting for paying members. I'm here to find adult friends who have similar open minded ideas about sex and sexuality. The women here are your cash cows and you need to start treating us as the valuable asset we are before you have none left.

Yes, but FetLife is FREE or a mere $60 a year. Not too much chance of Various adopting that model. Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale Her infinite variety. Other women cloy The appetites they feed, but she makes hungry Where most she satisfies. For vilest things Become themselves in her, that the holy priests Bless her when she is riggish. ~~ from Antony & Cleopatra

There are many reasons for people to use this site. By using that phrasing you are excluding all those who aren't interested in "hooking up". It is, in my humble opinion, a seriously stupid thing to do. I suppose if you are trying to promote prostitution and not make money it is your nickle. Why would I say that? Consider the words hooking and hooker.

I'm a man. Don't like it at all. If all I wanted to do was "find a hook-up", I'd seek out a prostitute. "Find a hook-up" is kind of like "Whores are us"... doesn't interest me the least bit. Common sense no longer exists. It has been replaced by common ignorance.

Right on Chelsea!! This site was much better prior to 2007. The previous administration here did a better job of listening to paying members. Now it doesn't matter whether you pay or not... seems we get ignored just the same. If it doesn't make them money, they're not interested in hearing you. That's been my experience here. Been here since 2005. I retired my previous handle. Common sense no longer exists. It has been replaced by common ignorance.

You have had women AND men respond to this the same way - it has a negative connotation and is demeaning and derogatory to women. If that is not answer enough to your question I don't know what else would be.

Very well put i think, sums it up very well ! I've already commented along these lines so won't go through it all again but would just like to add that obviously since Various Inc's only motivation is profit then if for no other reason you should rethink the marketing of this site because if it is not changed it will eventually slaughter Various Inc's bottom line as women will leave worsening the already huge numerical gender differential on here, then the site is sunk. Your big asset is the female members, create an environment to benefit them and you protect your asset leading to continued and growing profit. Perhaps the powers that be can relate to financial implications as there is obviously no point in appealing to any sense of decency.

It works for some women too, but what I'm hearing is that it's not the majority. And then the next degrading change comes along and we start the futile discussions again. I don't really see where your members' opinions actually make a difference with things like this. Why bother to make us think they do? Reminds me of politicians who have town hall meetings. Everyone vents, expresses their opinions, and then the politician does what benefits themselves the most anyway. 2022... it HAS be better, right?!

Gosh, this idea will require me to have to rework our entire profile. Delete it all and just state "Will show up for initial meet naked". I guess it will end up being pretty simple actually. Gimme a break. Yes, it is a sex site, but please do your research and acknowledge that we are not all here to get laid in about 10 minutes. You only create an environment where couples and single females are promoted here as meat and the bounty of single men are left scratching there heads inside of a week because they haven't got a hummer every night from different gal, wondering what they paid for. Not to even acknowledge the new people that you shall scare away who are just trying to get their feet wet. Classless. Go for it though, you will anyway. I am a celebration of willful chaos and a hugger.

It is perfectly clear that the consensus of opinion is negative about the proposed changes and the general marketing strategy of A.F.F. People (male and female) are sick of their treatment by A.F.F. in many ways. The fun is being sucked out of this place because of A.F.F. policies and their failure to listen to their clients and address issues of prime concern to the majority of loyal members. The trouble is I cannot help but conclude that this consultation excercise is a total sham, a PR stunt, a pretence of listening and concern for members opinions. This has all gone on before and there are many issues of great concern to rational people presented in a logical and well considered way.... BUT NOTHING EVER HAPPENS AS A RESULT, IT'S ALL JUST TALK. A.F.F. are masters of pretending to listen but take no real notice at all. IT'S PURELY SPIN DOCTORING, double talk, excuses, avoiding the main point, platitudes and CYNICAL LIP SERVICE being paid to us. I am here making my point because I care but I know I'm wasting my time, THIS WHOLE CHARADE IS AN INSULT TO OUR INTELLIGENCE. Everythying will continue unchecked.... the cynical marketing of female members as easy tarts, the fake/scam profiles, the conning of males into paying up under false pretences. Is there any chance of A.F.F. acting on members grievances rather than just 'listening'...... NO !

AS USUAL, YOU DID NOT MENTION YOUR TG/TS/TV CATEGORY. WHY DO YOU EVEN HAVE IT IF WE DON'T COUNT AS PEOPLE TO YOU? NOW I CAN'T VOTE. THANKS AdultFriendFinder NAZIS!!!! And now, the comment you've been waiting for: It all starts with a "technologically-advanced" but socially retarded society that, in general, still favors the white man at the expense of all others. Add in the capitalist element and you get the hyped ads that moron consumers believe -- like "you will get laid." Now subject the site to corporate ownership and you get the "we don't give a fuck about the clients so long as the stock is making money." As much as I agree with such a protest, the real answer is to quit the site if you don't like the insulting behavior. Because as long as you pay for the membership, they are making money. And they are probably even making money off you if you are a standard member. Remember -- AdultFriendFinder is a business that is trying to make money, not a favor granter. AdultFriendFinder is a microcosm of the way we seem to want society to be. We vote for it by participating in it. Totally sad on all accounts. (I wait with great anticipation and inner joy for everyone's hate mail.)

This is dead wrong. I took a look at Live From AFF and read all the way back through May's posts. I didn't see anything that was related to "most of the issues raised here". I saw issues about fake profiles, weird and erroneous messages, problems in how thing looked on that page, group posts and blog posts not posting properly (or not posting at all), solicitations and feedback on the beta site but nothing on the issue (because there is only one issue being raised here). I didn't see anything about how women are depicted and described in the marketing copy for this site or how women's profiles have been copied over to other sites to boost. I didn't see anything Can you point me towards those posts in case I missed them? In case you are not sure what people are upset about, I posted on it This Is What People Are Upset Over Something else I saw in that group is that apprently there are regular Q and A sessions that are held with Ryan and other members of the Various, Inc staff. It would be great if he could solicit questions from this group as well and post the answers here as well so more people could benefit from it. I hope this clears things up for you.
