Group Fixes

Please list anything you'd like to see fixed or improved with Groups here. Looks like we'll get some time to work on fixes, so I want to make sure I capture everything.

For this post, try to list things that you'd like to see fixed or improved with the tool. We'll work on getting your posts up on the site faster outside of this.

I'll start:
1) Allow moderators (and assistant-mods?) to be able to email every member of the group at once. This would allow groups to set up meet and greets because we don't review emails for contact informaion.
2) Allow a member of the group to take over when a moderator goes missing.
3) Fix "Now Chatting" so it lines up correctly.

What else?

 Here's my wish list, along with all the other suggestions that everyone else has made (especially the bug fixes, like line breaks):
.
1. Make it so that when people delete or turn off their profiles their posts remain and do NOT disappear.
.
2. Give mods and associate mods the ability to prevent certain people from joining the group, like a preemptive ban. Sometimes people will post something inflammatory and then leave the group, so the moderator can't ban him/her.
.
3. Allow us to choose both males and females in the "Promote your group to new members near you for free" link on the Groups Main Page. (I think this is Domino's Number 8 point.)
.
4. When we click on our post count number or on the list of recent or active topics, we currently can't tell which page number we're viewing. Make it so there's an underline or coloured box around the page we're currently viewing.
.
5. Give us more than 10 choices in the group polls.
.
6. Review and approve posts faster. Currently it's taking between 1 and 3 hours for posts to appear, which is making groups less active, I think.
.
7. Clicking on the Active Members link used to show the dates when people joined the group, as well as other information that someone else before me mentioned. That information is mostly missing now.
.
8. Bring back the search function for posts in one specific group. Right now it's broken and you can only search for certain words that appear in ALL the groups on the entire site. Also, once you generate a list of posts that contain your specific search term, if one of the posts in the list happens to have html formatting added to it, the rest of the posts in the list that follow it will take on that added html formatting. This causes the rest of the list to be staggered off to the side of the screen and sometimes to overlap any links on the page. I once called up a search term and got a list that overlapped the page number links, so I couldn't even switch pages. I hope that made sense...

Its a good guide to a genuine mistake to abuse.

You can't have groups that promote illegal activities. He may be harmless to 99.999%. What about the .001% who think its ok or the 'norm' in society.

If someone starts a group they can stay as long as they like and when and if they want to hand it over there is a process in place..if they are still active on the site

Moderators are accountable for abuse in rooms and it's entirely up to them to moderate their groups, also they can have rules in place about conduct of all members, they can also ban members, they can delete contentious threads etc, I doubt the site will police the rooms

The TOU is in place and the Abuse Team go by that, and each infraction is dealt with on case by case basis and there are rules already in place in groups fro chat and not allowing personal information, but again up to the moderator to enforce.

ie Do away with active rooms links. Cyber hunters don't read room rules. Noone enters there rooms from the group page.
