April Suggestion Box

As I sit here among my stacks of Penthouse porn, I wonder to myself, "What could this next month bring to our happy online family."

Well, take a moment and tell us what you wish would happen.

I'll have the "usual"...the new profile view with some kind of indication that I am on IMC/Broadcasting my cam...a side of server stability for all the kick off's of late when trying to navigate the site...a members broadcasting page that does not hang and not reload...a nifty way of "opting out" of such things as flirts and features I've no intent of using...maybe flirts married to Cupid settings...what a concept...make it only for the paid members if you must...us poor bandwidth leeches can suffer without...I don't suppose you could restore standard members the ability to view their own videos...that was rather a bitter pill...and a way to approve/delete comments on our pictures and videos...might be asking a bit much huh...don't want to a appear greedy...oh yes...seeing as how you pointed out in your other post about how international we are...how's about a onsite translator program...I really think that one has merit and would ease a lot of tension around here...have a stellar Spring Ryan

How about turning voting off in your blog, Ryan? It's getting to be a little like the Advice Line, where people are just trying to shut someone up by voting "disagree." Maybe just leave voting on for this suggestion thread (if that's possible), where people might conceivably be voting for or against a particular suggestion, not for or against a particular person.

I shudder to think of the new bugs that get introduced each month, and I now I see them copulating in your post. At least we know where the bugs come from now.

I've seen LOTS of complaints from women about wanna fuck emails. I've seen LOTS of complaints from women about the find a slut/whore near you and get laid tonight click to fuck advertising. I'm not sure that there isn't a correlation between the two.

And the women getting pissed over this are not the fake profile scammers advertising on your site, they're probably very happy with the boys that write rude and nasty emails. But the real women that can read and write and will respond to well thought out emails and appreciate compliments are pissed. And when momma's not happy, no one's happy.

I tried the chat and cam thing for a while, and quit using it in frustration. I see complaints about the way they function quite often explained by people that know a lot more than I do about how those work. Not so much about needing new features, but needing to work reliably. I don't think it needs to be dressed up or given a new gimmick, it needs to be repaired or redesigned. I don't know what AdultFriendFinder is Listening is hearing, but I see it quite often. I also have heard that a lot of the guys there are as rude as the email writers I mentioned earlier, and that drives away the desirable women too. Not the reason that I quit, but if I signed in and a hundred people started telling me to shove a beer bottle up my ass, I would have quit trying to use it earlier. Again, there may be some correlation to the advertising.

I find the alert bar annoying. I tried to change the settings to those I actually wanted to receive alerts about. As soon as I hit "submit" it turned ALL the alerts back on. I tried this a few times on different days with different browsers, and decided that this feature may be because I'm a standard member. So, I turned it off. It's not so annoying now but it still takes up real estate on my monitor and I wish it wasn't there. Since I'm no longer paying, I'll just put up with it.

I hope you're having a good weekend and have a happy Easter Ryan. Take care....Beach

You can still use any bling you own that you delete. Just keep a record of the ID numbers somewhere, typically a blog post or use the "extra pages".

You can store the bling you delete there and buy, take, receive as gift or create more and use it all.

Fantastic suggestions!

I'd really love to share these thoughts among the Live From AFF group. Would you consider joining and posting them or allow me to quote you there, if you'd rather not?

I think many people would have that problem, but they could make it more general in location. I think the idea is basically if a person is living in Ghana, they can't claim to be in the US.

Looks like the "view profile" link was moved from Member home pages (the My Account" area towards the bottom)? It make it difficult to see updates as you're working on your profile having to click through all the to the "My account settings"

Has AdultFriendFinder ever considered having any user customizalbe areas where we could chosse from a set list of available option, what site links, etc, we use most frequently?

a)I'd like standard members to be able to leave testimonials again

b) I'd like to be able to use my points to upgrade to silver/gold membership without having to go through 'confirm ID'*. I'm not quite sure where the logic in that decision was; if I were to buy a membership, I wouldn't have to confirm who I was.

*I don't list my actual home town on here because it's Small Town New England, where if there are three degrees of separation, it's a small miracle. I don't want to give that info out - both as a matter of privacy and as a matter of safety, and since I'm no longer meeting people, it really doesn't matter.

Well a "Wish List" is just that, a wish coz it will never happen on this site, you guys obviously are sticking too many pages together in that stack of Penthouse' magazines you have, and just sit back & take the money. I wonder how many people here decide to re-new their membership upon expiration? I tip not many

My wish List:

1. Fuck off the fakes and scam profiles you obviously create yourself to get people to join your affiliated sites

2. Let standard members reply & read my emails i send them, whats the point of them being able to see they have mail in their inbox and not be able to read it? I pay money to contact people but you don't want newbies to be able to reply, makes no friggin sense

3. How about an automatic confirmation that somebody has read your email, but heres a novelty, make it FREE

4. Make the HTML chat window full screen, in your wisdom you decide to change it and make it smaller again if it aint broke don't fix it

5. Make people want to come back and pay to use the site not piss off the already paying customers by continuing to change things and we end up with a site that is totally different to what I originally paid for! Yes yes I know you cover your arses in your "terms & conditions" to allow you to get away with this

Anyway they are my top 5 wish list items, now please ignore me & I might just go away

I have asked this before because you came onto the advice line last year with a poll about it and the majority of us wanted the full site block so that people couldnt view our profiles or contact us on IM chat as these are really the only things we cannot block.

You said we couldnt have a full site block, well why? why can't we have a site block. I block people for a reason, so why should they still have access to me?

The reporting for abuse doesnt work, I've tried so many times, so if you gave us the blocking we wouldnt have the problem

What was the point of asking us if we wanted a site block and then saying we can't have it?

I totally agree with what Pineapple8686 had to say. Now for my two sense.

I’ve been a member of AdultFriendFinder now for a quite some time and it seems like each year things only get worse with the site. I don’t know maybe it’s me but when I first joined the site I don’t recall as many problems as there are now. Each time there is a new feature added then new problems are also added. I think you should also ask the members before you come out with something new if it’s something we would be interested in. I am tired of getting flirts, emails from so called women from the countries of Ghana, and Nigeria, and from women that are suppose to live in the USA that are looking for true love who are 25 yrs old. Give me a break I’m 50 like I would ever want to “hook up” with any of these women.

I find it strange that I can block members from just about everything but looking at my profile when it’s such and easy fix. If I don’t want someone to look at my blog, from sending me emails, adding a testimony then it should be quite obvious to the site that I don’t want them to look at my profile either. All you have to do is to change the option to block all of these members from being able to see anything about me including my profile. That will solve the problem of them from being able to see my profile.

Another thing you should do is to get rid of the generic profiles that you can make using the help of AdultFriendFinder. I’m so sick and tired of seeing that a perfect Friday night for me is to…..or I like driving down the freeway….I like to wake up screwing on a Sunday morning where we left off on Saturday night. How many of these people are real members? My guess is not that many of them and even if they are if they can’t think of something to write on there own then they not need be on this site.

I’m sick and tired of hearing were working on the problems. You have computer programmers for a reason. Not only to help develop new futures but to also correct the problems that arise. If I am unable to do my job then I’ll be replaced with someone that can. Maybe what AdultFriendFinder needs to do is to put the threat in them that if they don’t do there job they’ll be let go. It’s about time that AdultFriendFinder listens to what the members have to say especially the paying members.

We have two lives, and the second begins when we realise we have only one - Confucious

I concur with the desire to have more privacy controls. In Particular:

1) Being able to block individuals from seeing our profiles
2) Being able to mark blog responses as private so that they do not show up on my or the blog owners profile page.
3) In addition to my profile and blog, being able to control whether my Advice Line postings or any other are search-able by web search engines.

Finally I would request a single privacy privileges page in the my account section where I can manage my default privacy settings for all parts of the site.

Thank you.

Hi,

I have a suggestion about blings. I think that you should offer an ability to upload blings, besides the online editor. I mean right now you need to find ways around the bling editor and you need to find hacks in order to prepare blings with your own tool(s) of choice. I mean what is the big deal with it? The quality of the blings will get better and there will be more choice around...

You are probably thinking about the bling sizes, standard members get smaller sizes and so on. So a person upgrades and can now officially make a bigger bling, but that person will still probably find that e can not be competitive with the online bling editor and e would still need to find ways around the system...

Bye!

After that discussion I was able to get Blogs added to the blocked member list. Still, a blocked member can just create another standard account to see your blog posts.

I didn't think I could get a full site block pushed. The reason is because it is simply too big of a query to run, that would affect speed and stability. When I don't think I can get something done, I'll let you know - that's all. I can keep pushing, but the biggest offender seemed to be people reading your blog that we didn't want.

There are 3 things left it seems:

    1) Viewing your profile photos
    2) Viewing your videos
    3) Seeing your activities on your profile page (working on this one)

Blocking your profile would probably take care of all 3.
But what about blocking on IM chat. Those that are blocked can still contact on that

Go to MY ACCOUNT >> PREFERENCE DETAILS >> BLOCKED MEMBER LIST and select the option of APPEARING IN CHAT/IMC. Add any members you want to the block list. Check that option and hit "update".

I've ticked every box I can for blocking

This post is for the management of Various Inc. and FriendFinder Networks. The purpose is to discuss some of the past business decisions regarding your adult dating websites. I believe that you are diluting the value of your own services by creating many identical websites and cloning the content of users’ profiles.

The value of your website is not in the features, it is in the network of people that use your website and create content. The greatest value of websites like Facebook and YouTube are not in the features of those websites, it is in the content that the users of those websites create and the depth of the network of people that use them. The same kind of value is created on your dating sites. Creating a website is relatively simple and entry barriers into your industry are low. The only way to reduce threats from new entrants is by strengthening your network of users.

Lavalife is a good example of a dating site that lost value because the network of people that use the site was diminished. Match.com cultivated a larger network, gained momentum and diminished the value of Lavalife. FriendFinder is doing the same thing to its own adult dating websites by creating numerous identical websites.

Networking effects create the most value for your services. By creating identical websites like AdultFriendFinder, GetItOn, Passion and many other websites, you dilute the very network that creates value for your customers. You are diminishing the value in the following ways:

1. Splitting the network diminishes the overall value to your customers ‒ the greater the depth of your network the more value it has
2. The brands are diluted and you lose name recognition
3. Promotional efforts are not concentrated
4. You erode the trust of your customers

As a user of your services, you lost my trust when I found out that my profile and the content that I created on your website was copied without my prior knowledge or consent on dozens of other websites. Facebook News Feeds is a good example of how people can lose trust in a network. Feeds started in September 2006 and quickly created a backlash among users of Facebook. The News Feeds feature broadcasts profile changes of users. Users of Facebook felt they had less control over their profile and began to complain. Ironically, the very networking effects that made Facebook worth billions made the backlash viral by broadcasting every time someone joined a group like “students against news feeds.” News Feeds still exists, but management backed off and made it an opt-in feature of Facebook. This gives back control to the users and the controversy subsided.

Show respect for the people that use your services. Not only do they create the content that gives your websites value, they are also your primary revenue source.
