Dinner for Two
I thought I had everything: essential groceries, special herbs, spices, garnishing, and a few other items suggested by my best friend’s wife who was acting as my cooking coach. I really wanted this to be nice for you which is challenging because I’m not much of a cook. But I have developed a couple of entrees that are surprisingly tasty. I’m going with something I know and incorporating improvements suggested by my coach.

You arrive and I greet you on the deck with a warm hug and a kiss which is just a tad hasty….our roles are reversed ….and I’m uncharacteristically nervous. We enter the kitchen and I open a bottle of Cabernet Franc recently acquired while on a wine tour of Prince Edward County. I’m not an expert but this one is seductive. We sip and chat and soon all nervousness vanishes. You are perched up on the counter in the corner, balancing your wine glass playfully, with your legs crossed in a way that you know captures my imagination. I can’t help glancing at them and noticing how they lead delightfully under the pretty summer dress that we picked out together. I wonder, “Why am I so painfully attracted and so helpless to resist ?” I answer, “...because you are so poised, lovely, intelligent, aware of your power over me.”

You catch me leering, and I’m a bit embarrassed. Even though we have been lovers for awhile, my training as a gentleman frowns on such overt behaviour so soon in the evening. You see all of this play across my face and smile, knowing that you have a special ability to captivate me. You combine the two observations and leave me no choice but to approach. You slide to the edge of the counter and spread your legs as invitation. I nestle between them and you rest your arms on my shoulders, wine glass still in hand. I gently slide my finger tips up your legs under your dress and let them come to rest lightly on your hips, feeling only your soft, warm skin. You look down into my eyes with a fondness that makes me yours and you draw me to you. You kiss me tenderly at first, confirming my love for you, and then passionately. I respond with my tongue and soft sounds of anticipation. I so want to be yours.

Dinner will have to wait.
