The Healer
I rose to find her calm and completely at rest. She continued to sleep with the profound peace of a woman who knew her heart and mind. As the sun rose she stirred, ripples crossing her otherwise perfect skin. Life had been good but not without worry. There had been punishing wind and rain, menacing waves topped by angry white caps, but her persistent spirit, always full of hope, saw her through the tempest to the rainbow which followed. With this resilience she rose to greet the daze: the island daze into which she had been reborn. Water is female. Women are the healers.

Pixie moved through her world with cheerful purpose and grace, solving problems for friends, organizing her recently departed father’s estate, and comforting the grieving brothers and sisters. She remembers me fondly, but has important work to do; she is the light and strength for many around her. She is the heart of the island.
