Foto Friday- Weather Hurricane Wilma

I also am a member of SeniorFriendFinder and we have a different subject to photograph every Friday and it is a fun thing to do, here is my blog from last Friday!

Hurricane Wilma came on the same day as my birthday, Oct 24, 2005! This a photo taken of the Banyan tree kitty corner from me across the street. It is about the same size as mine and also had a cabbage palm tree growing in it. You can still see the cabbage palm with out it's top palms limbs. It missed her home by about 6 feet. This hurricane did more damage here then Hurricane Andrew which hit South Miami and Homestead in 1992!

Thanks for visiting my blog.
What a picture! It makes me really sad to see that old tree mangled by the hurricane... I love trees.
Where I live, a big centenarian got up rooted about 2 months ago... we had strong winds, no hurricane though... I guess it was it's time to go. but I felt really sad and I miss him. It was at 100 steps from my home and I walk by it 1000 times may be more. I don't know...
Right now, I'm trying to paint a tree, that is 300 hundreds yo. I took is picture in France.
I know an olive tree, in France too. He's 900 hundreds years old!! and very healthy, very beautiful!!

Happy people, don't have everything; they make the most of everything coming along their way.

Thank you for you comments, about old trees. I was sorry to see this tree go! Actually my banyan tree is taller but I had it pruned so the wind had room to blow through! I do not know how old my tree is but my mom bought this home in 1938 and it was big then! I would estimate it to be about 80 year old! I have an old oak tree across the way that had no damage at all! I notice oak trees seem to hold up well from the strong winds of Hurricane force! What kind of tree was the centerarian that got uprooted?
